Encanta Counselling & Wellness
"Why do I still feel like this?"
Maybe you’ve tried therapy before and sat across from someone who felt a little too stiff, or who flinched at the parts of you that make you, you. Or maybe you’ve never gone at all, because the thought of explaining the most tender, most taboo parts of yourself felt like too much. Either way, you’re tired of performing, holding shame about your past, your desires, or your identity.
Your story belongs in a space where it’s understood. Individual therapy in Cambridge is that space. Let’s use it to help you heal, grow, and flourish.
Cultivate a life you love.
Signs that individual therapy may help
There’s no bar you have to clear to deserve support. Therapy is for anyone ready to set something down.
- Tired of shrinking or editing yourself to feel okay for everyone else
- Holding shame about your past, your interests, or who you are
- Feeling anxious, particularly around sex and intimacy
- Unsure who you even are underneath it all
- Worried you're "too much" for the people around you
- Struggling with panic, or lying awake when you long to sleep
- Watching the same patterns repeat, however hard you try
- Telling yourself "it'll pass," when it hasn't, for months or years
If any of this feels like you, you're in the right place. Let's take the next step together.

How We Work Together in Individual Therapy
Encanta comes from the Spanish word encantar, which means “to love,” and it’s the through-line of everything we do here. We won’t hand you a one-size-fits-all program. We start with the real you, then find what helps. We believe that with the right care and conditions, you get to grow into someone you love being.
We draw from a range of warm, affirming approaches:
Individual Therapy Sessions
Personalized 1-on-1 support tailored to your unique story, needs, and goals.
Sex-Positive Therapy
A sex-positive approach that embraces diverse expressions of sexuality and relationships with openness and a focus on pleasure, consent, and well-being.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
A compassionate approach to help you heal from past trauma, creating a safe, empowering space focused on your resilience.
Queer-Affirming Therapy
A safe, validating space for 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals to explore identity, relationships, and challenges without fear of judgement or misunderstanding.
Psychoeducation
Information and resources to help you understand why you act the way you do, and what change could look like.
Worksheets
Structured exercises and prompts to help you reflect and practice new skills.
The privilege of a lifetime is to become who you truly are.

Individual Therapy FAQs

Book a free consultation to learn more about how we work.
Is there an individual therapist near me?
We offer in-person therapy in the Waterloo Region from our Cambridge office. Not nearby? We also offer convenient, accessible virtual therapy for individuals across Ontario. You can book a free consultation online, by phone, or email whenever you’re ready.
Can therapy help with something I've never talked about before?
Yes. Therapy at Encanta Counselling & Wellness is built for exactly the things that feel too heavy or too taboo to say out loud. We’re passionate about trauma, sex, and relationships, and your therapist’s whole job is to hold a safe, judgement-free space for you. So many people tell us that finally saying the thing they’d been hiding was the moment everything started to shift.
What's the difference between talking to a therapist and a friend?
A friend can love and support you, but they also bring their own triggers, biases, and needs into the conversation. A therapist is a trained professional focused entirely on you, with no other agenda. Therapy is a space where you don’t have to manage anyone else’s feelings, including your friends’, while you work through your own.
How do I know if I actually need therapy or if I'm just going through a rough patch?
What can I really talk about in individual therapy?
Anything. Truly. So many people come in worried a topic is too weird, too dark, or too much, and that’s exactly the stuff we’re here for. Sex, kink, desire, shame, trauma, identity, the thoughts you’ve never said out loud to anyone, it all belongs in the room. Nothing you bring will faze your therapist, and there’s no part of you that needs cleaning up before you walk in.
Is individual therapy right for me if my life looks fine from the outside?
Yes. You don’t have to be in crisis or able to point to one big reason to deserve support. Plenty of individuals come to us while holding down jobs, relationships, and everything else, but still feeling stuck, numb, or not quite themselves underneath it. If something feels off, that’s reason enough. Therapy is just as much for growth and self-understanding as it is for hard times.
How is individual therapy at Encanta different from other practices?
We’re built around the parts of life most therapists tiptoe around: sex, kink, desire, and identity, and we bring a sex-positive, queer-affirming, anti-oppressive, trauma-focused lens to all of it. If you’ve felt dismissed, pathologized, or like you had to educate a past therapist about your own life, we get it. Here, you can skip the explaining and get straight to the work. Book a free consultation to begin.
Can I switch what we focus on as therapy goes along?
Absolutely. What brings you in on day one often isn’t the whole story, and that’s completely normal. As trust builds, deeper or different things frequently surface, and your Cambridge therapist will follow your lead. This is your space and your pace, and we’ll keep checking in and adjusting so the work always reflects what matters most to you right now.
Do I have to identify as 2SLGBTQIA+ or neurodivergent to come here?
Not at all. Encanta Counselling & Wellness is an affirming home for queer and neurodivergent individuals, and we warmly welcome everyone, including straight, cisgender, and neurotypical clients. Our team simply offers a space where whoever you are is genuinely safe and celebrated. You’re welcome here just as you are.
